Romania's Ford Dealership

Romanian engineer and businessman, Barbu Neamtu {1907-19??}, established along with his brother Sebastian in 1931, "SEBAR", the Craiova branch of the Ford Dealership House.

With funding from the Bancii Comertului, the dealership was located at the 'Casa Alba' on the Strada A.I. Cuza. After 1934, besides producing automobiles like its Bucharest counterpart, the company also catered towards the Romanian peasants, producing trucks and tractors.

To help promote the company, Barbu participated in numerous auto-races across Romania, Croatia, Switzerland and most frequently in Monte Carlo.

After the start of World War II and King Carol's new political policies, the SEBAR company was soon producing and offering repairs to military vehicles for Nazi Germany after March 1940. That policy was later offered towards the Soviet Union after Russian troops entered Romania in August 1944.

Eventually the company was suspended permanently in the fall of 1947, due to lack of supplies being exported from the US after the war.
